AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional forecasts, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A mysterious confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden rituals and monstrous changes reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine group.
The adventure centers on "bizarre trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Transformations
The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Bonus Features
Players who finish the quest will obtain an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
