Notable Incidents

Certain fatalities in custody have been high profile, including a senior medical chief who perished in confinement after a third of a year in custody.

A detainee detained alongside the victim stated that he was brought to the courtyard by correctional officers just prior to his passing, visibly injured and naked from the waist down. His corpse has not been repatriated to Gaza.

Additional detainees who died in confinement by Israeli authorities are unidentified. Detention administrators and defense forces gave investigators with the total of deaths in confinement, and basic further data including the facility where they died, but without the inmates’ personal details.

Identification Challenges
