Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
