Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the pair's 24-year age gap.
The court handed down suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A circulating unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their complaint contends that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
